Mangrove Yellow Warbler (Setophaga petechia)

Until recently, this species also included the migratory Northern Yellow Warbler, a very similar looking species which is found up into the Arctic Circle, but the Mangrove Yellow Warbler is by contrast a sedentary resident of Central America and the Caribbean. Males have a distinctive chestnut cap, but within the many subspecies the specifics of the various subspecies are fairly variable.
