While the Eurasian Oystercatcher can often be found inland in the breeding season, the Black Oystercatcher is a bird exclusively of rocky coasts. As the name suggests, its plumage is entirely black giving it a dramatic if somewhat less easily recognisable form. They share a broad lifestyle with the other oystercatchers however, using their long beak to feed on molluscs.
