A large pigeon with rust and slate colours that is one of the more common pigeon species in urban Costa Rica. They range just up to the very Southern border of Texas and Costa Rica represents the Southernmost point of their range. They are primarily frugivores who spend their time in trees and bushes eating berries. Despite the name, only the base of their bill is notably red.
