The members of the genus Euphonia are a number of species of small finches of the Neotropics with various slight variations on a black and yellow plumage patterning in the males, and ochre green in the females, in actual fact this unusually makes it somewhat easier to tell a female Scrub Euphonia from the overlapping Yellow-throated Euphonia, as the female has a distinct white collar while the males are superficially very similar.
