A specialist in pine nuts found across the high mountains and taigas of Eurasia and among the most elusive of Europes corvid species. Similar to jays, they store seeds for winter, which helps generate forest by effectively having seeds planted. An unusual instance of a species which isn't migratory but is irruptive, and when a pine crop fails they will disperse more widely, as would be the case for this individual that appeared in Mundesley, Norfolk in 2026.
