Northern Barred Woodcreeper (Dendrocolaptes sanctithomae) at Tarcoles, Costa Rica - November 2025

Featured Subspecies: Dendrocolaptes sanctithomae sanctithomae
Weight: 53-83g  /  Length: 25-29cm  /  Wingspan: ?
NO UK STATUS IUCN Red List: Least Concern*

Another species with somewhat unresolved taxonomy, as some split it into the Eastern and Western Barred Woodceeper, and occassionally a third as well. In this instance, the species here would be the Western Barred Woodcreeper. A more timid bird than several of its woodcreeper counterparts, this represents the only view I got of one on the trip.
