A species that has gained much infamy for its resembling the potently venomous black widow. This species can cause medically significant bites, however, it is more on the severity of a bee or wasp sting. Originating from Madeira and the Canary Islands, it has now spread to much of Europe as well as the Americas and New Zealand and is considered one of the most invasive species of spider.
