A very widely distributed species that was colonised every continent except Antarctica with particularly broad distribution in Europe and South America. They are very connected in range to human habitation which suits them well as they prefer sheltered, warm environments. As a species that is known to hunt other spiders as a notable portion of their diet, they actually help control these other species, including in some instances, ones potentially dangerous to humans.
