A widespread species of spider originally from Eurasia but now found fairly globally due to introductions. It superficially resembles the true Black Widows but, while venomous, is no way near as dangerous. It can cause blistering, fever, nausea and sweating. A False Widow with applied pigments was used to portray the spider in the Sam Raimi Spider-man films.
