A species of Central America with a range spanning Texas to Panama where it favours subtropical climates in damp areas, often near rivers. It prefers secondary growth areas which have experienced previous disturbance where its favoured herbaceous host plants live. The species is intermitantly migratory and may make short to medium distance migrations based on its environment.
