A near endemic of Costa Rica, barely crosing the border into Panama, they largely sedentry beyond some seasonal altitudinal movement and feed on invertebrates and berries. They can be found in mixed species feeding flocks.

Despite appearances, the Red-eyed Vireo isn't actually a relation of Phylloscopus warblers, but rather a neat bit of parrallel plumage evolution. This species holds the records for most songs in a given day by a single bird at over 20,000, and spread across many different song types, with the average being 31 different songs, and one bird with 73 songs.

Warbling Vireo has a very old world warbler sort of vibe as it flits through the trees - a small insectivorous species with drab browns and creams. In this case however, the vireos and an unrelated New World family, of which the Warbling is one of the more widely distributed. Some authorities have suggested that this may be a potential future split, with differing populations either side of the Rockies perhaps worth considering to escalate to full species status.
