Native to the North Pacific in both North America and Asia and is the most numerous of the species known commerically as "salmon", although that concept is a fairly artificial one that isn't reflected in genetics. They get their alternative name of Humpback Salmon due to the hump that males develop during spawning. Like other North American Salmon, they die after spawning.
