Common Wood Nymph (Cercyonis pegala)

OTHER NAMES: Wood-nymph, Grayling, Blue-eyed Grayling, Goggle Eye 
Latin Etymology:  Cercyonis ("wood nymph") pegala (?)

Adult Juvenile in Summer Winter plumage of Species (subspecies ) at Location - Month 20

Featured Subspecies: possibly Cercyonis pegala ino
Wingspan: 5.3-7.3cm
NO UK STATUS IUCN Red List: Least Concern

A very widespread species found thoughtout the majority of the Lower 48 of the USA, they are a veratile species capable of utilising a number of species both as caterpillars and adults, feeding on grasses as a juvenile and a wide variety of flowers as an adult.
