The Western Sandpiper is a small wader that breeds on the Western most edge of Alaska and just into the tip of Siberia, before migrating southwards to Winter around the majority of the coast of the Lower 48, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and upper South America. In terms of European equivalent, their bill shape and proportions put me in mind of dunlin, although their non-breeding plumage is much brighter.
