A widespread species of Coastal Lowlands which specialises in coastal and wetland prey such as crabs and crayfish, but will also take small vertebrates and scavenge depending on availability. Their range extends into the Southern United States and down both Pacific and Atlantic Coasts of South America to Ecuador and Guyana respectively.
