The main issue with Small Skippers is that they look incredibly similar to Essex Skippers. They can be most easily differentiated by the colour of their antennae - Essex Skippers have a black tip while Small Skippers have a brown tip. Apart from this, there are other minor ways to differentiate them, but they are less conveniant.
