Lesser Stag Beetle (Dorcus parallelipipedus)

Lesser Stag Beetles, are as the name suggests, smaller than stag beetles, however, they are still large beetles in themselves. They don't have the huge jaws of the other stag beetles. This particular specimen was found walking along a pavement just outside Geddington. They generally live in woodland.
